Cutting a memory foam mattress

This video details how you can cut your memory foam mattress down to size. This could be useful if it needs to fit an Ikea sized bed. However, this could be avoided by just buying Ikea sized memory foam mattresses which are available.

The key is to keep it simple and make sure you have not pushed yourself too hard. However, what happens when you are trying to do everything you can but for some reason there are other obstacles or small issues stopping you reach your goals. For example, if you have thought about spending more time with the family but then got a promotion or office premises moved it might be a bit tricky to leave on time.

Other resolutions like improving your lifestyle might be in sight though, with some adjustments. Consider thinking about your lifestyle if one of your changes was to relax and exercise more.  A top tip here, is to get more sleep and that is naturally inducing sleep and not alcohol induced. One of the biggest hazards of memory foam mattresses is leaving babies and small children alone on them. The nature of the material may make it very difficult for them to turn over and suffocation could be possible. Get regular exercise – This is essential for helping the body unwind from the days stresses and therefore helps the mind relax. If you are tired, this will make it easier to sleep.

Keep noise down and your room cool – This will encourage your body to relax as the temperature will not be too hot or too cold and uncomfortable.

Avoid eating and drinking too much liquids right before bed – this may result in needing to get up to use the bathroom and eating right before you go to bed may result in digestion problems and stomach ache.

These are a few tips to help you relax and get ready for bed and a sounder sleep. If you are still having problems look into the way you sleep, or even what you are sleeping on as a lumpy mattress or one that is too soft or too hard will make it uncomfortable so why not take a look at a memory foam mattress which may reduce these problems.

If you start with the upstairs and consider the bedrooms first. You could either flip your mattress or think about investing in a memory foam mattress for comfy nights sleep. Try re-arranging the furniture for a change. You could hang up some more pictures within the room or go for a complete overhaul and new decor.

Does the pile of papers by the sofa really need to be there or could they be filed away. While you are de-cluttering have a look in the cupboards and see if the pile of clutter in the wardrobes and under the bed can be sorted. No point in having a nice new memory foam mattress and not being able to lounge comfortably knowing what is under the bed.

• Post re-directed – The UK postal service can arrange for post to be automatically re-directed to your new address. There is a small charge incurred but this is surely better than having un-delivered post.
• Car Insurance and registration – Make sure these are updated with your insurer and DVLA as these are essential to make sure you are still getting the right cover.
• Medical – Check out and register with the local doctors and dentists. Don’t leave it until you need one as this is un-neccesary stress.
• Collect and store boxes – These will come in handy for packing, without you having to buy boxes and storage boxes.
• Pack Early – pack those things not used everyday (CD’s, ornaments, DVD’s, books) as this will save time later on
• Bulky furniture – Leave the bulky furniture like the beds, tables, desks, cabinets until last. This is not a job for one person and if using a removal firm they may want to pack the bulky furniture as they will know what can go where. Also you will need your bed and memory foam mattress until the moving day.
• Children – let them get involved with moving so they feel part of it as they will also have concerns and insecurities.
• Essentials last – When packing – leave the kettle, tea, buscuits and the toaster until last. Otherwise you will be un-loading with no supplies and everyone needs a tea break.
• Precious items – keep personal and important items with you during the move. A few broken cups is nothing compared to losing a passport or phones.
• Notify Utilities – make sure you give your final meter readings for your utility bills and also make sure you get the readings in your new house.

These are just a few tips to make sure you have thought about your move and enjoy the day and the time in your new home.

All the excitement that Christmas brings is enough to make it difficult for the kids to get to sleep on Christmas Eve with the anticipation of Santa’s visit. This can be a nightmare for parents as it can stop them from sleeping and put the kids in a bad mood on Christmas day if they don’t get any sleep. We have a few suggestions on how you can help them get to sleep.

First, try not to treat Christmas Eve as a particularly special day and cause too much added excitement. Try and keep the kids in their normal routine and keep the Christmas activities such as watching Christmas films and Christmas music to a minimum. Obviously you are going to want to do some of these things with your children but moderation is key.

Keep them occupied during the day and try and wear them out as much as possible. Try and keep sugary foods and drinks to a minimum especially past the early afternoon so they’re not too hyper coming up to bed time. Also, try and keep drinks in general to a minimum so they’re not waking up to go to the toilet too often once they eventually do get off to sleep.

Some warm milk or a warm bath or shower before bed can help them to relax and consider sending them to bed a little earlier than usual. They are obviously gonna stay awake a little way so getting them to bed early might could help minimise the time it takes. Try singing or reading them to help them settle down. Remember, a comfortable sleeping environment such as a memory foam mattress will help anyone go to sleep!

Reminding the children that Santa can only come if they are asleep might give them extra reason to try and sleep and setting a present opening time for the morning is a good idea. Choosing a time and sticking to it gives positive reinforcement and helps in the future years.

If you are looking for somewhere to hang the Christmas stocking so that Santa can creep in and place the presents, then at the end of the bed is perfect, if your child is sleeping on a memory foam mattress they will not even hear anything as they will be sleeping so comfortably. If you have been planning this Christmas for a while then it would be a shame for the children to be wide awake as we all know santa only lands his reindeers when all the household is sound asleep.

There are many alternative suggestions on where to hang the festive Christmas stocking such as above the fireplace or next to the front door if access to the chimney is not available.

Just remember to leave a carrot and mince pie for Santa and his trusted reindeers.

There must be a better way...

Obviously this person has a large family and a need for a lot of mattresses. Either that or they’re trying to add extra comfort by stacking them up. We can’t help thinking that a memory foam mattress would do the job better and be a lot easier to transport!

This vehicle is definitely better suited to transporting a mattress and it seems like someone has decided to take a nap on the way. Seems like a good idea if you have a death wish but otherwise we wouldn’t recommend it. Maybe just get your mattress professionally delivered?

Is it roadworthy?

If you’re tired in the morning on the way to work then you might want to consider Homer’s approach and build a car out of a mattress. Unfortunately even if you could get this thing to run we doubt it would be road legal outside of the world of cartoons.

Under the mattress is a popular hiding place for some spare cash but this seems a bit extreme. First off it’s not very well disguised and more importantly it can’t be very comfortable to sleep on. We recommend a bank.

How Punny

Most people dispose of an old mattress by taking it to the tip but this isn’t an awful way to get rid of it. Who knew there were so many mattress puns and we simply can’t think of a better way to display them.

It can often be pretty difficult to get a mattress up the stairs but these kids seem to have found an easy way to bring it back down. It is a little worrying though that these people could be our future doctors and lawyers.

A decent sized mattress with a good warranty, seems like a great deal to us. As long as you enjoy the smell of urine that is.

A memory foam mattress moulds to the shape of your body for a comfortable nights sleep. Who needs that though if you have a mattress perfectly shaped to your sleeping position. We can’t imagine ever having a bad sleep on this.

There are plenty of ways to have fun on a mattress but this is one of the more imaginative we’ve seen. With all the work that went into setting that up its a good job they have somewhere to take a well earned rest afterwards!
